Are you concerned about your thyroid health?

There are many symptoms such as mood swings, fatigue and weight gain, that can indicate a thyroid issue. The thyroid test checks whether this organ is functioning properly by assessing the relevant hormones.

A thyroid check can help you monitor an existing thyroid issue or check if your symptoms – such as weight gain or mood swings – could be due to an issue with this hormone system, which regulates everything from energy levels and sleeping patterns to muscle strength.

  • Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)
  • Free Thyroxine (FT4)
  • Free Triiodothyronine (FT3)

You should consider getting tested if you:

  • Have symptoms of an overactive thyroid
  • Have symptoms of an underactive thyroid
  • Have a family history of thyroid conditions
  • Have an autoimmune condition such as coeliac infection or type 1 diabetes
For most people, it is not necessary to collect their sample while fasting, or in other words, before they have eaten or drank anything that morning (other than water). Although sometimes not fasting can have a small impact on TSH levels, so we recommend seeking advice from your doctor about what is best for you.
